It is fair to say that Rangers fans have been put through virtually every emotion that there is to go through over the years. Go back to 1967, for example, and they had to cope with seeing Celtic win the European Cup. Add in to that dozens of Scottish league titles and cups for their fiercest opponents and you can see why it has sometimes been a struggle to cope with supporting the Gers in the past. That isn’t even getting into the time that the club went through insolvency and was relegated down several divisions, having to fight its way back up through the leagues.

In spite of this, the fact that the club is one of the most successful in Scotland means that more than a few well-known faces have decided to follow the club’s trials and tribulations at one point or another. Although there are other clubs in Scotland that are well supported, it is hardly outrageous to suggest that the ones that are going to see the biggest groups of people following them are Rangers and Celtic; something that might well also help to engender the rivalry between the two sets of fans. Although many of the famous supporters are Scottish, not all of them are.

The following list is obviously far from exhaustive, so apologies if your favourite famous supporter of the Gers doesn’t make the list, but it is at least a sense of the kinds of people who love one of Scotland’s most successful football clubs.

Gordon Ramsay

There have been times during his life when his love of Rangers might well have been called ‘Gordon Ramsay’s Football Supporting Nightmares’. The celebrity chef was born in the Renfrewshire town of Johnstone, growing up in Scotland until his family moved to Stratford-upon-Avon when he was nine. As a youngster, he hoped to become a professional footballer and his dream was to play for his favourite club, Rangers. His love of the club has even extended to him coming up with a menu to be enjoyed at Ibrox, as well as getting along to see an Old Firm derby or two.

Drew McIntyre

It is fair to say that not everyone will know the name of Drew McIntyre, but those that do will be all too aware of his love of Rangers. Born in Ayr in 1985, he began a career as a professional wrestler in 2001, eventually working his way to being part of what is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment. Andrew McLean Galloway IV, which is his real name, became the WWE champion when he won the Royal Rumble in 2020 and then defeated Brock Lesnar. It is likely that he’d swap all of that for the chance to play for his beloved Gers, however, heading to Ibrox every chance he gets.

Clive Anderson

Clive Anderson was born in London in 1952, so in some ways it doesn’t make a huge amount of sense that he’d be a massive Rangers fan. As a comedian, though, he went to the Edinburgh Fringe numerous times during his career and may well have fallen further in love with the club then. He first got into following the Gers thanks to his Rangers-mad father, who brought his son up to follow in his footsteps. Although Anderson also loves Arsenal, his ties to Scotland mean that he’s got a soft spot for both of the clubs and keeps an eye out for their results whenever they play.

Tom Stoltman

The vast majority of people wouldn’t even think of themselves as the strongest man in their local area, let alone the strongest in the world. That is a title that Tom Stoltman has won more than once, however, and has shared the title with his brother, Luke Stoltman.

Born in Scotland in 1994, he became the first Scottish competitor to win the competition when he did so in 2021. A year later and he joined his brother in jokingly suggesting that they wouldn’t be taking part in the World’s Strongest Man tournament on account of the fact that they were going to watch Rangers play a match in Seville.

Amy Macdonald

With a name like Amy Macdonald, it is hardly all that surprising to learn that the musician was born in Dunbartonshire in Scotland, back in 1987. She grew up a Rangers supporter, although she might well have become one anyway when her (almost) namesake became the head coach of Rangers Ladies in 2017. A football fan in general, Macdonald has had to put up with abuse from misogynistic men when expressing her opinions on the game. She was accused of showing too much loyalty to Rangers when she congratulated Alex McLeish on becoming the Scotland manager in 2018.

Colin Montgomerie

It is fair to say that Colin Montgomerie is more closely associated with another sport in the form of golf than he is with football. Born in Glasgow in 1963, he turned professional in 1988 and was quickly named the Rookie of the Year on the European Tour. In spite of how long he spent in America on account of his golf career, though, he never lost track of his love for his boyhood club. In 2020, for example, the former Ryder Cup winner entered talks in order to buy a stake in Rangers FC, which is his Scottish club that he supports alongside his English team, Leeds United.

Marti Pellow

Born in Clydebank in Scotland in 1965, Marti Pellow came to fame courtesy of being the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet.

Anytime he goes to Ibrox, though, he doubtless feels that love is all around him, given the fact that he is one of the best-known Rangers fans around. If you wanted any evidence of that, then you might want to consider the time that Wet Wet Wet were hosting a concert at Celtic Park and Pellow reportedly snuck onto the pitch in order to bury a Rangers scarf somewhere behind one of the goals, ensuring his club’s legacy at the home of the enemy.

Grado

Drew McIntyre doesn’t get to claim to be the only professional wrestler with a love for the Gers. Graeme Stevely was born in Ayrshire in 1988 and got into wrestling for the first time in 2002. Becoming known as ‘Grado’, he worked his way through the likes of Insane Championship Wrestling and Premier British Wrestling to make a name for himself. At the same time, he also took on the acting role of Police Constable Hugh McKirdy in Scot Squad for BBC Scotland, which also gave him the chance to show off his impression of his Rangers hero Ally McCoist.

Shay Mitchell

Shannon Ashley Garcia Mitchell, better known to most as ‘Shay’, was born in Canada in 1987. Fair to say, therefore, that she isn’t exactly the natural fit when it comes to being a Rangers supporter. The actress and entrepreneur’s father is of Scottish and Irish descent, however, which might help to explain why she posed wearing a Rangers shirt when she was on holiday in Australia in the March of 2025. Known for her work in TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars, Mitchell is probably more of an interested party than someone who heads to Ibrox every week.

Hugh Grant

It is not exactly unheard of for people living in Scotland to support both a Scottish side and an English one. It is a tad more unusual for English people to have a team that they love north of the border, yet that is exactly what Hugh Grant does. He is well-known as being a Fulham supporter, watching the club home and away when he’s not working. When Rangers made it to the UEFA Cup final in 2008, however, the Love Actually star was reportedly desperate to get hold of a ticket at the City of Manchester Stadium in order to watch the Gers take on Zenit Saint Petersburg.
